THE WELCOMING PROJECT

Homecoming

Premiere: Culture Night, 8pm, September 17, 2021 (Online)

‘It takes a village’ is an African proverb that stresses the importance of us coming together to support one another. Homecoming is a dance film inspired by this proverb and what community means to us.

Directed by Eilise Sullivan, produced by Catherine Young Dance and scored by Martin Schärer, this film is an adaptation of the music and concepts from the original stage work It Takes A Village, choreographed by Catherine Young.

It aims to capture the essence and beauty of a community in Kerry, sharing their talents and thoughts and stressing the importance of coming together to be hopeful and resilient in darker times.

It takes a village was made as part of The Welcoming Project, Kerry.
