‘This is Irish dance making at its best; political, urgent and intelligent. Book it for your festival. Fund it. And if you ever get the chance, go and see it.’ — RTÉ on State of Exception
★★★★ ‘A powerfully visceral experience, and one of the most compelling depictions of the refugee crisis to date.’ — The Arts Review on State of Exception
‘What affects one directly, affects all indirectly’ — Martin Luther King
Inspired by the experience of making work with refugees and asylum seekers in Direct Provision, State of Exception is a powerful and raw multi-cultural interplay of dance, music and text. Featuring a cast of outstanding Irish and international performers this compelling and original dance work delves into the world of asylum seekers to understand, to connect, to challenge and tear down the walls and borders that divide us, finding home in the common that binds us all.
