Dance changes us.

Catherine Young Dance is a company of artists led by choreographer Catherine Young. We create courageous dance work with the ambition to inspire change. We are renowned for the physicality, musicality and scale of our work and for the visceral connection we forge with our audiences. Through dance, we move hearts and minds towards what is true, to see and share in our common humanity.

Interweaving dance, film, music and text ‘Floating on a Dead Sea’ is inspired by Young‘s time in Palestine; the feeling of being lifted and held by the generosity and kindness of a people, in a place where nothing is normal. A place where everyday life, dreams and aspirations are stifled, basic rights denied, and lives lived unfulfilled. This is Young’s immersive and visceral reflection on life in the West Bank prior to the 2023/24 war, and places us in the footsteps of ordinary Palestinians, giving us the chance to witness their sense of enduring injustice and feel their urgency and need for action. This profoundly moving work features stunning visuals by Luca Truffarelli and offers a chance to listen more deeply to voices seldom heard....

A Call To You

’A Call To You’ is Catherine Young Dance’s latest work emerging from the urgency of the incomprehensible times we are living in. It is a call to come together, a call to explore the fragility and friction of community.

Featuring a cast of outstanding international performers, with live music directed by Young’s long-time collaborator Martin Schärer and inspired by Ukrainian folk dance traditions, ’A Call To You’ is a fervent celebration of life, togetherness and dance. It offers an antidote to division, the imagery of war and the endless rhetoric of politics. As words fail, the body speaks – untamed and unapologetic.
